PREFERENCE EVENTS takes you on an adventure of discovery on an incentive trip to the Roya Valley.
One of the most beautiful spots in the hinterland of Nice, the Roya Valley straddles the border between France and Italy. This site, from Nice to Tende, at the gateway to the Mercantour National Park, is a fabulous playground for a nature-oriented incentive trip or to spend a day as part of a seminar on the Côte d’Azur.
A historic “panoramic” train will take you there from Nice. The “Train des Merveilles” follows the Nice-Tende railway line, officially inaugurated in 1928. Crossing the Paillon Valley, then the Roya-Bévéra Valley, you climb through grandiose landscapes, passing an impressive succession of engineering structures: viaducts overhanging canyons, tunnels cut into the mountain. The route takes you to the villages of Breil-sur-Roya and its surprising transport ecomuseum, Saorgue, a medieval town classified as “France’s most beautiful village”, and Tende, a fortified medieval town where you can visit the Musée des Merveilles, which presents the excavations of one of Europe’s most important cave sites, the Vallée des Merveilles (Valley of Wonders).
In addition to beautiful hikes in the Vallée des Merveilles (Mercantour), the Roya Valley also offers numerous possibilities for sporting activities and team building: canyoning, rafting in the waters of the Roya as well as cross-country skiing at Castérino, climbing with the Via Ferrata at La Brigue and Tende, mountain biking with over 600 km of marked trails…
Unfairly overlooked, this little corner of Italy in France is a haven of beauty and freshness. As an extension to a stay in Nice, the Roya Valley will leave a lasting impression of unspoilt nature.

In terms of accommodation, the valley’s establishments are limited to a few gites and other family-run establishments, which are only suitable for small groups (around 30 people), but Nice makes a perfect base camp with its hotel offer suited to all types of corporate events.
