Colombia, from Bogota to Cartagena
Préférence Events organises exceptional trips from Bogota to Cartagena in Colombia.
Gone are the days of FARC, cocaine kings and other merchants of terror! In just a few years, Colombia has achieved the masterly feat of securing its territory and opening up to tourism. Revenues from tourism now replace those from drugs and trafficking of all kinds. Twice the size of France, located in the north-west of South America and sharing its borders with Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador, Colombia is a particularly rich destination for organising an exceptional trip to South America (incentive trip, reward trip or press trip).
Its varied natural environment – the Amazon jungle in the far south, the green hills of the coffee-growing region (Péreira, Arménia), the coral reefs of the Caribbean coast – combined with its cultural wealth: The archaeological park of San Augustin with its monumental statues, the Plaza Botero in Medellin, the salt cathedral of Zipaquira, extraordinary colonial towns (Villa de Leyva and above all the sublime Cartagena de Indias) make Colombia an exceptional destination for organising an ‘adventure’ incentive trip close to nature or a prestige trip for a VIP group.
Because of the country’s vast size, a short stay means that you will have to choose your tour according to the objectives of your trip to Colombia (team building, relaxation, adventure and/or cultural visits…). However, the pearl of the Caribbean coast is a must for an exceptional trip to Colombia: the extraordinary Cartagena de Indias, a superbly preserved colonial city listed as a World Heritage Site and protected by 13 km of centuries-old fortifications.
Having resolved its security problems caused by FARCS guerrillas and drug traffickers, Colombia is now an exceptional and little-known destination for an original trip, combining all the attractions of South America. A minimum stay of 4 nights is required to discover the marvellous Cartagena and the Caribbean coast.
Accommodation in Colombia
Colombia has recently seen the development of a quality hotel industry at competitive rates.
Most of the major international chains with facilities suitable for seminars, conventions or incentive trips are present in Bogotá.
Most of the country’s tourist towns offer charming or luxury accommodation, while eco-lodges, some of them luxurious, are opening in the Amazon.
In the colonial cities, 4 or 5-star boutique hotels are springing up, often set in old historic mansions.
Cartagena offers some very fine establishments for exceptional stays for VIP groups.
Activities in Colombia
Colombia offers incentive activities that are unheard of elsewhere! Between team building, relaxation and discovery, the guests on your trip will enjoy an exceptional experience! Depending on the stage of your tour, you can :
In Bogotá: Visit the Gold Museum, the Botero Foundation or the old quarter of Candelaria.
In the Amazon: take a cruise on the Amazon to see the pink dolphins or trek through the jungle.
In the Coffee region: go horse-riding, discover how coffee is harvested and made in a Finca, try your hand at the local game: ‘tejo’…
On the Caribbean coast: discover the coral reefs of the islands of the San Andres and Providencia archipelagos, Tayrona National Park, the colonial city of Cartagena…
